Eww Flu

It is almost December, which means we are almost completely submerged in the dreaded flu season. Below you will find some interesting information about influenza as well as where you can get a flu shot.

  •  Symptoms
    • Fever or feeling feverish/chills
    • Cough
    • Sore throat
    • Runny or stuffy nose
    • Muscle or body aches
    • Headaches
    • Fatigue (very tired)
    • Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea, though this is more common in children than adults.
  • How does it spread? 
    • The virus spreads when someone who is currently infected shares droplets with another, such as sneezing, coughing or talking onto someone
    • It can also be spread by touching an area where the virus is and then touching you eyes, mouth and even nose 
  • Who should be vaccinated? 
    • People who have certain medical conditions including asthma, diabetes, and chronic lung disease.
    • Pregnant women.
    • People younger than 5 years (and especially those younger than 2), and people 65 years and older.
    • Household contacts and caregivers of people with certain medical conditions including asthma, diabetes, and chronic lung disease.
    • Household contacts and caregivers of infants less than 6 months old.
    • Health care personnel
